Dr Pradeep Rao is a Director & Senior Consultant - Urology and Urogynaecology practicing at Gleneagles Global Hospital, Parel. He is also associated with Jupiter Hospital, Thane and Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital.

With 34 years of experience he has worked as an expert in different hospitals - Mamata Hosptial, Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital, Rajawadi Municipal General Hospital, R. N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital, L. T. Municipal General Hospital and Mulund Municipal General Hospital.

Dr Rao was one of the earliest urologists to start performing laparoscopy in India. He then trained in Robotic Surgery at MPUH, Nadiad, and USC, Los Angeles, California. He has been a faculty member at MPUH, Nadiad, and the Jayramdas Patel Academic Centre since 2010. He performed the first-ever Single-Port Nephrectomy (among other single-port cases) using the R-Port and is credited with pioneering this technology.

Dr Pradeep Rao has attended various conference with different presentations. In 2007 World Congress of Endourology held at Cancun, he presented a video on "Evaluation of a Novel Laparoscopic Access device". Prior to this, in the conference held in 2002, this urology specialist in Mumbai presented video on "Laparoscopic Orchidopexy: Is open orchidopexy dead?"

He has also participated in research work and published many papers, including 'The Feasibility of Single port Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: A Pilot Study of 20 Cases', and 'The Use of a Novel Reverse Thermosensitive Polymer to Prevent Ureteral Stone Retropulsion During Intracorporeal Lithotripsy: A Randomized, Controlled Trial.'

He has more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been a Guest editor of the Indian Journal of Urology. In addition, Dr Rao is on the editorial board of the Journal of Endourology.

Dr Rao was awarded the first prize for Best podium paper at WZ USICON, Goa, in 1999. In 2000, USI awarded him the Dr R Seetharaman memorial essay prize.
