Then he obtained his MS in Orthopedic Surgery from the University of Health Sciences, in 1991. He then completed his MCh (Post-Doctoral Degree in Neurosurgery) from Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, in 1997. Additionally, he completed fellowships in radiosurgery, functional neurosurgery, and spine surgery at renowned institutions in the USA.

Dr Basina has received numerous accolades for his contributions to neurosurgery. In 1995, he was awarded the Madurai Neuro Association Award for Best Poster Presentation at the Annual Conference of the Neurological Society of India in New Delhi.

In 1992, he was honoured with the KS Memorial Holy Family Hospital Polio Deformity Correction Surgery and Rehabilitation Award for his outstanding work in the field.
