In Karnataka, he launched the state's first super-specialized training program in surgical gastroenterology (DNB Surgical Gastroenterology). While at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, he initiated the liver surgery service.

Furthermore, he became the first surgeon in the city to perform the technically challenging Taj Mahal resection for liver cancer.
